On behalf of the course faculty we cordially invite you to participate in the 4th Consultant Intensivist Transition Course to be held at The Blackman - Art Series Hotel, Melbourne, VIC from June 13-15, 2012.
The curriculum reflects the needs of new specialists who wish to more effectively move from diligent Senior Registrar to confident Junior Intensivist.
The enthusiastic faculty bring to the program a wealth of experiences that have shaped their own adjustments. The blending of these, with their combined knowledge and skills that include experiential teaching methods, mannikin-based simulation and health management, promise to make this an event not to be missed.

Who should attend?
The course is specifically designed for recently qualified Intensivists who have started work in an Australasian Intensive Care Unit.
The topics are pitched for doctors within the first two years of commencing the transition from Senior Registrar to Consultant.
It will be particularly relevant if you have already encountered challenges such as:

Program outline
The course will commence with a series of challenging scenarios played out in a simulated ICU environment. This will contextualise the curricular elements that will follow over the subsequent two days.
In the confidential and comfortable facilities of the conference centre, important concepts will be explored that include:

Learning methods will be varied incorporating psychometric profiling, group activities and facilitated discussions. Sessions will be focussed and enjoyable, ensuring maximal yield for your time.

Faculty
The diverse faculty will cover a broad curriculum. They will also share with you their career journeys to date and the key lessons learned, including the realities of public and private hospital practice, as well as financial issues. A guest Senior Intensivist will support the team in providing additional insights obtained from decades of experience.

THE BLACKMAN - ART SERIES HOTEL, MELBOURNE

Endorsements
The course is supported by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM) as well as the Australia and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS).
It is approved for 50 CME and 50 QA points for continuing medical education for specialists as part of the CICM program.
The first course was inspected by Associate Professor Charlie Corke, Chair of the CICM Education Subcommittee and Associate Professor Michael O’Leary, President of ANZICS.
